ANTI-CHRISTIAN SENTIMENT AND GOD’S TRUTH

November 17, 2009

“Why are the nations in an uproar and the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!” He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.” (Psalms 2:1-4 NASB)

We recently received a very nasty comment on this blog from what looks like a very immature “patriot” whose web name includes “666.”  Without a doubt, Christians are increasingly being subjected to derisive remarks and insults and I have no intention of allowing these types of comments on this blog.  Yes, I do moderate the comments and anything that attacks the character of Christ and Christians are not welcome here.  Disagreements are acceptable but not hateful diatribes.  This site will honor God.

I peruse alternate and mainstream news and the comment sections can be a very good gauge of the current mindset of our society.  I am well aware of which alternative news site this commenter arrived from since this is the typical tone of many of its forum contributors.  I’m sure they will feel more at home on that particular site than here.  But anti-Christian sentiment is increasing in every area of our society, mainly through the media, and these lost souls are simply playing out the agenda of the New World Order (Satan’s Kingdom) although they are blinded to their participation.  Many have already believed in the lie.  2nd Thessalonians tells us that in the last days there would be great deception.  When the Antichrist shows up on the scene, many will accept him because they rejected the truth of God’s Son:

“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:7-12 NASB)

There will always be those who find pleasure in denigrating Christianity.  It’s our response to it that makes the difference.  Christians should not be pulled into the game.  Our guide is the Word of God in spite of what the spiritually blinded may say.

The following comment on a Christian blog is typical of the posts I’ve seen all over the Internet lately:

Atheist in Seattle

10:33AM Nov 8th 2009

Religion stands on the “faith in the unbelievable” there is no logic to it at all. Having faith in something is fine, but put you faith in your wife, your family, not into something that sounds like it comes out of a science fiction novel. Hell I am surprised that there is no church of Hogwarts for the Harry Potter fanatics (which I am one of), it makes more sense than any bible, Koran, or book of Mormon. Wake up to the advances of science. There is no God!

Having faith in anyone but God is a losing proposition.  I pray that all “Atheists in Seattle” will have a change of heart.  I pray that you will turn from the religion of science to the religion of the One True God who created the universe.

For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE, AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE.” Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? (1 Corinthians 1:18-20 NASB)

So cheer up Christians!  Lift your heads and rejoice!  God is on OUR side!

“Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man. “Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For in the same way their fathers used to treat the prophets.” (Luke 6:22-23 NASB)
