IN REMEMBRANCE – BLUE

December 9, 2009

February 8, 1997 – December 9, 2009

Today was a sad day for us, especially my husband.  For those who have ever had a pet and had to put them down, you know how he felt.  Blue was HIS dog particularly and he would defend Gary with his life if necessary.  He was the Alpha dog to his brother Sky and would defend his “little brother” from all attackers – foreign and domestic.  He LOVED bones!  He wasn’t much of a “talker” like Sky because when he tried he sounded so menacing that we didn’t encourage it.  He was a very gentle fellow.

Blue began having noticeable difficulties about six months ago but he seemed to be alert and functioning.  We noticed that he began to bark at nothing.  Once, he picked up his dog dish and carried it to us.  He seemed confused and dropped it at our feet.  He developed many inoperable tumors and finally began to lose his balance and simply fall over.  Recently, he began to shake with pain and when our other dogs were near, he would growl at them.  This caused our adopted mama dog to go ballistic and we had to separate them.  Blue was the Alpha to the end, even when he was too sick to defend himself.

Today, Blue couldn’t walk, and through tears, my husband carried his faithful friend to the car for his last ride.

Rest in peace, old buddy.  You were loved and you will be missed.

i am so sorry for your loss pastor.while dave and i where at your home the boys and i had our coffee outside in the morning blue would check the parimetur like the good little marine and usually all my tires before going in the house. i had a thing about the cover on the couch being tidy there in the dining room.and one day blue went to untidy the cover and i made an ach ach noise and it then became a game i believe when he thought the vacum was getting a little to much attention he would go to the couch and begin rearanging the cover with this giggle in his eyes as if to say my turn my turn! and then the games would begin!he was a great dog and companion.i think buddy is a good descriptave for blue. again i am sorry for your loss he will be missed and remembered fondly
