THE GOOD NEWS

The cross

What exactly is the good news?  If you’ve never had the opportunity to hear the gospel, it’s very simple:

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 NASB)

We are all sinners.  It comes with the human territory.  Adam and Eve, beguiled by the serpent, disobeyed God and sin entered the world.  Along with sin, came death (Roman 6:23).  It was downhill from there.  Sin separated mankind from his Creator and only the shedding of blood could atone for it (Leviticus 17:11).  But this was a partial cleansing that needed to be repeated over and over.  Jesus came to be the final, ETERNAL, blood sacrifice (1st John 1:7; 1st Peter 1:2; 1:19; Hebrews 13:20; 12:24; 9:28).

Do you feel an emptiness in your life?  Maybe you’re ask ing yourself  “Is that all there is?”  Maybe you feel unworthy, weighed down by sins and years of poor choices.  God could never want someone like you.  Not true – Jesus specializes in saving sinners! (Luke 19:10)  The Apostle Paul understood how undeserving of salvation he was, yet no matter how evil his deeds were as Saul, God allowed him to go his own way until the time of his salvation.  Did God know Paul before he saved him?  He knew him from the foundation of the world and set him aside from his mother’s womb!  (Galatians 1:15; Ephesians 1:4)

No matter what you’ve done in your past, the blood of Jesus Christ can cleanse you from all sins and make you a new creature in Him.  Do you hear His voice? (John 10:27)  Do you believe that He died and rose again on the 3rd day?  (1 Thessalonians 4:14)  God may be doing a work in you, drawing you to His Son. (John 6:44)  God loves you and wants you to follow Him.  Call on Jesus and repent.  Ask Him to forgive you for your sins and come into your life as Lord and Savior.

Aren’t you tired of false Christianity?  I was, and I looked up to heaven with a determination to follow Him with all my heart, and all my strength, and all my mind (Deuteronomy 6:5; Matthew 22:37).  He saved me and made me a new creature (2nd Corinthians 5:17).  My life had purpose and meaning for the first time.  Even my spiritual vision had changed.  I saw things much more clearly, everything was alive because He made me alive!  He can do the same for you if you believe in Him and commit to following Him with your whole heart.  Jesus is the ONLY WAY to be saved from your sins.  There is a fearful judgment upon those who have rejected the only way to heaven (Matthew 10:28).

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” (John 14:6 NASB)

So, if you are reading this and hear the voice of the Savior calling, come to the cross.  You have nothing to lose but your sins and eternal life in heaven to gain.  You might want to pray like this:

Jesus, forgive me for my sins.  Thank you for dying for me.  Come into my life as my Lord and Savior and help me to follow you completely.

If you sincerely prayed this or a similar prayer (the words themselves don’t save, but the sincerity of your heartfelt communication with the Savior), welcome to the narrow gate!  Find a doctrinally sound church in your area and read your Bible.  If you don’t have one, I suggest asking a pastor in your area if he has an extra – most do.  Usually a Baptist church will accommodate you.  Christian life will not be boring!

“Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4 NASB)

GOD BLESS YOU!

As soon as we are transferred from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of Light, we have stepped on to the front lines of a battlefield.  Jesus said:

“Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”  (2 Timothy 3:12)

Satan has now been deprived of your allegiance and his aim is to make you fall as a Christian.  Be on the alert, be in the Word, and follow Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit.  Remember…

“You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” (1st John 4:4 NASB)

Remember – no blog, web site, or television program should be substituted for fellowship in your local congregation.

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:23-25 NASB)

WARNING!  Not for the weak – scary, but TRUE!  EXCELLENT SERMON.

THE REASON FOR THE SERMON THAT MADE MANY ANGRY

One more admonition, new believer, as you begin your walk.  There are many false doctrines out there and many cults that want to suck you into their grasp.  Reading your Bible will help you avoid the traps and give you discernment.  Pray for discernment.  Most Baptists churches are doctrinally sound.  God bless you and welcome to the family.
